Temperature: Three groups are distinguished: Group 1 for C. speciosa: warm and humid all year round at 20 - 25°C. Group 2 around C. massangeana: 15 - 20°C. Group 3 around C. cristata: in summer like outdoors (protected), in winter at about 10°C.

Location: Bright and warm window seat. Most species can be kept outdoors in a sheltered spot in summer.

The more than 120 partly terrestrial, partly epiphytic (tree-dwelling) species are distributed in the eastern hemisphere. Its sprout bulbs have one or two leaves and handsome flowers in a spike. The flower stalks are usually formed at the top of the new shoot.
